Emergency Planning, Response, and Natural Resource Damage Assessment & Restoration
RPI played an integral part in the recent response to the Deepwater Horizon / MC252 platform spill in the Gulf of Mexico in 2010. RPI personnel were on-scene supporting NOAA in the first days and we remain on-scene at present. RPI provided scientific support to Incident Command across a variety of issues of concern. Our scientists participated and coordinated SCAT surveys, coordinated data management, and assisted with specific issues such as submerged oil, chronic shoreline oiling, toxicology, and applied treatment research to support cleanup operations.
